Seth Baum of Historical Arts and Casting, Inc. will expand on his May 2017 presentation on the firm’s work in the recent restoration/reconstruction of the Capitol Dome, Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Hill Center, 921 Pennsylvania Ave SE.

The dome was in major need of restoration after years of deferred maintenance and rust issues created from previous non-successful renovation projects.  Historical Arts and Castings, Inc. was a sub-contractor on the large project, tasked specifically with restoration of cast iron decorative elements.  Typical work was reconstruction of corroded/broken castings and fastners and removal of fractures and rust jacking in salvaged materials. Seth’s presentation will include many breathtaking, jaw-dropping photographs and videos of work in progress as well as artifacts that can be examined at close-range. Hill Center, 921 Pennsylvania Ave SE.

The talk will be preceded by an organizational business meeting at 6:45 p.m. at which the CHRS FY2018 budget will be approved by CHRS membership.

The event is free, handicapped accessible and the public is encouraged to attend; no reservations necessary. Questions can be directed to the CHRS office, info@chrs.org or 202.543.0425.
