Her presentation will provide alluring historic images of the District’s cultural landscape as it evolved from its establishment as the nation’s capital to the early 20th century.

The discovery of a springhouse from a mid-1800s farm two blocks off upper 16th Street NW launched Williams on a search for other remnants of Washington’s rural past. After much effort and research, she and her team from the D.C. Historic Preservation Office identified dozens of structures that have survived to tell the tale of rural Washington.
