Joe Bellosi, Master Engineer and President of J and G Electric Co., will be the featured speaker on Wednesday, October18, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Northeast Library. 

He will discuss electrical wiring and other safety concerns.

How wiring has evolved

Fuses vs. breakers

Electrical service size

Cloth wiring – How to repair. When to replace. Options on how to extend its useful life.

Remodeling – Recessed lighting. Additional outlets and circuits. Rough patch services.

Arc-fault circuit protection -Arc-fault circuit requirements. Where arc-fault-breakers or receptacles are required.

GFI  circuit protection –  GFI circuit requirements. Where GFI breakers or receptacles are required.

Life safety:

Smoke detectors- Hard wired. 10-year sealed battery. Interconnected detectors. RF Smoke detector systems. Where to locate.

Carbon Monoxide detectors- 10-year sealed battery. Plug-in units with battery backup. Where to locate.

Preventative maintenance- Safety inspection. Testing GFI receptacles and breakers. Testing arc-fault receptacles and breakers. Testing Smoke detectors. Testing Carbon Monoxide detectors. Checking electrical panel connections.
